Mushtaq Ahmed Unveils Why Babar Azam May Leave Field in High-Stress Situations

Former Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed has offered insights into how Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, might approach high-stress situations during the upcoming World Cup matches. Mushtaq Ahmed drew from his experience with the England team, where they advised former captain Alastair Cook to temporarily leave the field and engage in discussions with the management when facing challenging phases of a game.

Mushtaq explained, "When I was working with the England team, we told Alastair Cook that whenever he is in a tight spot he should come off the field and talk to the management about how he feels and the game plan. The discussion with the coaching staff helped change the course of matches on many occasions, both in Test and ODI cricket, when Cook again went back on the field." This tactic of seeking clarity and perspective has proven effective in critical moments.

Expressing his opinion on how Babar Azam might employ a similar strategy, the 53-year-old Mushtaq Ahmed suggested that Babar could opt to leave the field during challenging phases in the upcoming matches. He emphasized that this break would provide Babar with an opportunity to engage in discussions with the coaching staff. Importantly, this approach prevents undermining the captain's role, as sending messages from the dressing room can compromise the captain's authority.

"In my opinion, Babar will go off the field whenever Pakistan will be in a difficult position in the coming matches as well. Babar will take a break and speak to the coaching staff since sending messages from the dressing room undermines a captain. The captain coming off the field is a better thing to do," Mushtaq Ahmed concluded. This insight sheds light on a potential strategy to help Babar Azam manage high-pressure situations as the World Cup unfolds.
